What are veneers?

Veneers will make your teeth beautiful once again. Veneers, also known as facings, are thin shells of composite material or porcelain that are permanently bonded to the front of your teeth. The advantage of composite is that it is cheaper, however, this material will not last quite as long. Would you like to keep your teeth beautiful for an even longer period? Then you might be better off selecting porcelain. Chances are that you never have to replace porcelain veneers, because it guarantees the highest quality and is absolutely colorfast.

Are you still contemplating whether or not to get veneers? Twinsmile will make your choice easier with Testeneers®. Dare to smile without holding back, without the need for any actual dental treatment. Testeneers® are specially developed by Twinsmile. The plastic shells are tailor-made. This way, they will perfectly match the color of your teeth, while Testeneers® correct crookedness, discoloration or a gap between your teeth.

This is a temporary solution, so that you can experience what your new smile would look like. After that, you decide for yourself whether you would like to continue your cosmetic treatment with veneers in order to make your teeth permanently beautiful once again.

What happens during the treatment?

We always start off with a no strings attached Smile-Analysis, in which we discuss your wishes and see which color and material suits you. For this, we use a shade guide and the Testeneers®. Once we know how to give you your most beautiful smile, we get started. This is done in a number of steps.

Making veneers

Your veneers are custom-made in the dental laboratory of Twinsmile, also if you opt for composite veneers. This way, Twinsmile can guarantee with one hundred percent certainty that your composite or porcelain veneers will be of the highest quality, and tailor-made for you!

Trimming tooth

Opting for porcelain veneers? Then we will have to trim off some of the surface of your tooth, in order to make space. A porcelain veneer has to be at least half a millimeter thick. By trimming your tooth, the veneer will feel completely natural, as it exactly matches the previous thickness of the tooth.

The Twinsmile dentist makes an impression of your teeth. Then, the dental laboratory will get on it right away! Your new veneers are fabricated in the exact shape and color shade.

For your second visit, we are all set to provide you with your new smile. The dentist prepares your teeth with an acid gel. After that, a clear bonding agent is applied to your teeth. Finally, your tailor-made veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth.

How do veneers feel?

They feel very natural – just like your own teeth, in fact. You may require some time to get used to them, as some people may find it somewhat harder to talk once their teeth have been enlarged. If the shape of your teeth has been changed drastically, some sounds may appear to be deformed. This is absolutely nothing to worry about: within a few days, you will no longer notice the difference.

Can you eat normally with veneers?

Yes, of course, you can eat whatever you like! Just keep on doing what you did with your own teeth. However, always be careful when biting down on hard objects, such as candy drops, nails, and more. We also discourage tearing off tape with your teeth.

Is extra maintenance needed?

Veneers do not require any additional maintenance. The composite material will hold for approximately ten years. Are you a smoker, or do you frequently drink coffee or tea? Then your veneers might stain quicker. Porcelain will hold for at least ten years and – possibly - even for a lifetime. Also, porcelain is less susceptible to discoloration, so that you will keep the same beautiful, self-confident smile for years and years!
